Barbecued Spareribs

bullet 3 lb of pork shoulders
bullet 2 tbsp of Hoisin sauce
bullet 2 tbsp of Barbecue sauce
bullet 1 tsp of Chinese five spice powder
bullet ½ tsp of M.S.G.
bullet 1 tbsp of sugar
bullet 1 tbsp of salt
bullet a pinch of red food colouring
bullet 1 tbsp of Chinese rice wine or sherry

How to Cook

  1. Cut ribs along bone to about 3 inches long.
  2. Place on large bowl and mixed in all ingredients.
  3. Mixing well ensuring all meat is covered.  
  4. Leave to marinade for at least 4 hours (if possible overnight).
  5. Lightly oil base of large baking tray and place ribs onto it.
  6. Roast in oven for approx. 1 hour turning occasionally (longer depending on thickness of meat)
  7. For best results, leave for an hour to cool and deep fry for a couple of minutes before serving.
